A pair of vintage IKEA Gemet lounge chairs, built on the classic Gemet cantilever design: one continuous tubular chrome frame that carries a sling seat and back with no rear legs underneath. The chairs were featured in the 1973 IKEA catalogue. The white fabric on both is the original upholstery.
Each chair measures 24 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 30 inches high, with a seat height of 15 inches. The low seat and the open loop of the frame keep them visually light, so a pair can sit together in a living room or a reading corner without crowding it. Bright chrome against cream fabric reads clean and quiet rather than showy.
Very good original condition for the age, with no restoration. The upholstery is in great condition, the chrome is bright and the frames are solid, and the chairs come from a smoke free and pet free home.
